My step father and I took a tour with Ellwood in March of 2009. All I can say was that it was AMAZING, and I still talk about it. Being that we went during the off season, we had a more personalized tour with him. Also being a fellow WWII re-enactor in the US I found that his knowledge on the subject was unbelievable and surpassed most of the historians I have talked to. I highly recommend him if you are looking for a tour of Normandy. |

We took Ellwood's 2-day tour in late June and had a great time. Ellwood actually personalized our tour so that we could find out more about what our relatives experience during the invasion of France. I've never been on a tour where I've felt so comfortable and engaged. A truely unique experience that was the highlight of our trip to France. Ellwood is a real diamond geezer!! |

There is no trip better than this one! I have been on 2 others that didn't touch this one... and even repeated Ellwood's tour so that my family could experience this rich, informative education about the Normandy Invasion. He is an excellent teacher, guide and storyteller. His anecdotal stories are fascinating and entertaining. He knows how to bring history to life!
Thanks Ellwood... we'll be back for more! |

If you're going to spend one day exploring Normandy, spend it with Ellwood. We were amazed both by his enthusiasm and his extensive knowledge of every aspect of D-Day. 66 years after the invasion, no one can bring the reality of what happened on June 6th, 1944 to life like Ellwood can. He is a first-rate guide and story teller, and we cannot imagine touring Normandy without having him to guide us and teach us. |

We were eagerly awaiting our tour with Ellwood since early last spring. Having just spent the entire with Ellwood yesterday, we were not disappointed. In fact, the entire experience exceeded our expectations in every way. Ellwood's enthusiasm, expertise, humor, and knowledge made the day a delight. Our two teenage kids who are not exactly World War 2 buffs, enjoyed the day thoroughly as well. We all learned a great deal and immediately began to think of when we could book another tour with Ellwood. In my opinion, there could be no better guide/teacher to spend the day with. This must be tops on your list when visiting Normandy. |

My desire to have a heartfelt connection to my understanding of the D-Day events has been surpassed. Ellwood has outdone himself, and honors the 9,300 soldiers who are laid to rest at the American Cemetary as he shares his personally researched evidence of the factual events.
Not only do I have a better understanding of the interworkings of the strategic, political, and logistical wheels set in motion for this momentous day, but also the bravery of countless soldiers. He has bought to life a wonderful retrospective of the battles for my 13 year old son. A new generation of passion and respect for the Longest Day events has been born. Thank you. Our family will look forward to our next excursion. For those trying to decide what to do in Normandy---there is no decision to be made. Ellwood's tour is paramount! |

Bravo! Ellwood is without question the foremost authority on D-Day I have ever encountered. Passionate about his subject. Dedicated to the details of every facet of the Longest Day. Ellwood's tour holds your attention from start to finish.
His intimate knowledge of the key players of the momentous battle lend an insight on how battles are won and lost. Just as important to the story is his attention to minor characters who played such an important role in the battle, both Allied and German. His storytelling about the battle is brilliantly relentless from beginning to end.
No need to research other tours. Plan your trip to France around this tour. At the end of the day, you and your companions will know the cost of freedom. |

Ellwood Von Seibold's D-Day Battle Tours are the ne plus ultra of Normandy invasion tour experiences. The many glowing testimonials to his energy, expertise, and enthusiasm about the history of "The Longest Day" that are reflected in his guestbook speak for themselves. We would further observe that the high-paced one-day tour covers the essential American sectors from Ste. Mere Eglise down through the American Cemetary near Vierville-sur-Mer. If you wish to experience the other sectors further south, you are going to need the two-day tour and then some. Whichever tour you choose, fasten your seatbelt tightly because we guarantee that you are in for the ride of your life! Thank you so much Ellwood for an unforgettable day of touring in Normandy. |

If you want a battlefield tour that is inspiring, informative and full of the anecdotes that make it a personal experience, then this is for you. Ellwood is passionate about the subject, and can make the momentous events of so many years ago live for you now, whatever your connection with what happened in Normandy in 1944. He is also alert to the interests and background of his guests, so it becomes a two-way process, which is all the more satisfying. |

Ellwood is the best, bar none, tour guide my wife and I have ever been with. His enthusiasm and knowledge is extraordinary. Sitting in his home across the square from the church where the parachutist (Red Buttons in the movie “The Longest Day”) got stuck on the steeple and having our pre-tour “briefing” was fascinating. We were able to looking out his window into his garden where the first parachutist landed and surrendered to a German officer surprised the GI. We learned that when asked, “Is this really the invasion,” and hearing “Yes” from the GI, the officer then surrendered to the parachutist. You won’t have this experience with another guide. Being on his comfortable mini-bus with our group of 6 was SO much better than being on a bus with 40-50 others. I could go on and on. And if you want me to, drop me an Email at mpressley@cox.net with any questions. But what made Ellwood’s tour truly special and memorable was all the human interest stories, typically accompanied by photos of the people involved, AND the books of large photos that he took with him and showed us at every site. For example, when I was taking a picture of a German bunker with windows painted on the wall, Ellwood walked over and said, “Look.” He then showed me a picture of that same bunker 61 years before with exhausted GIs sitting with their backs against the bunker’s wall. NO other guide I saw had books of photos like Ellwood’s. This was the best money we spent and the absolute highlight of our 24-day holiday |
